Probably the most popular form of internet marketing today, more and more people are beginning to use social media marketing to spread the word about their products and services, and get leads for their business. But as with any marketing strategy, there is a right and wrong way. How you use this technology will greatly impact on what results you will achieve. In this article I will only be focusing on how to get leads for your MLM business.

The first thing you will want to do is build a list. To do this you need to get a whole lot of people to add you as a friend. If you don’t want to start with people you know, search for groups on internet marketing and network marketing or even find people who are in specific company groups like the company you are in. Research other companies and look up their fan pages too.

You want to attract others in MLM. This is the best kind of list to have because all your leads will already be familiar with the concept of MLM and probably already be joined with a company. This is a good thing though because somebody has already done all the leg work for you convincing them that MLM is a good business model. Now all you need to do is show them that you are a great leader and expert in your field.

You should try to add about 50 people per day. When you are sending the friend request, write something in the message box to make it more personal like, “hi there, I see you are in (XY Company), so am I, lets connect and share our ideas.”

Soon you will start to see your friend requests get accepted, so start getting to know your new friends. Create a friend list so you can shoot out messages to everyone on the list at once if necessary, but the best way is to talk to each person individually on a more personal level so they begin to trust you. Find out what company they are in, what strategies they are using to promote their business and how it is going for them. You may find they are unhappy with their current company and be looking into other opportunities.

You can show them how you can help them become successful in their business (or yours.) Most people in MLM struggle to be successful because they run out of people to join their business, or worse, they never really get off the ground at all for lack of support from their upline. This is where you will need to shine. Don’t just pitch your business to your prospects straight up, wait until you have established some kind of relationship first. If you show people that you are a great leader they will be asking you what you’re into and join you no matter what.

The most important thing you need to know about article marketing!

Value Value Value.

When writing articles this is the #1 priority.

Firstly, if your article content provides no value to its readers, they will soon click away from your article. The goal is to get them to read all the way to the end where they will find your resource box (signature box) this is where you talk about yourself and what you’re doing and also where you can post your links to your websites. More about this later.

No-one want’s to be sold to anyway. Think about it. If you were online, looking for information on say golfing tips, you wouldn’t want to read a write up about how a particular brand of golf will make you a golfing pro over night would you? However, if the article contained some great tips on how to play, you might read the authors bio at the bottom of the page and see that they are actually a golf pro and that they just happened to own an online store selling professional golf equipment that makes playing golf so much easier. 

This is just an example but you can see how it can apply to anything. Here’s a quote by famous marketer Perry Marshall. ”Nobody who bought a drill actually wanted a drill. They wanted a hole. Therefore if you want to sell drills, you should advertise information about making holes, not information about drills.”

Even if you had the best drill out there, you would still have trouble making sales because the hard fact is that nobody likes to be sold to.

Remember those guys in the shopping centre that stop you while you’re busy and try to pitch you on whatever their fantastic product is that’s only on sale at a great low rate today. You try to just keep on waling don’t you, well it’s like that with article marketing too, if you try to pitch your business to people, they will click away from your page and keep on looking elsewhere, and trust me, online there are a lot of competitors out there waiting to snatch up your leads. By marketing in this way you are throwing away leads and consequently, money.

So if you can’t market your business in the article, then how do you get people to your site to sell them your products?

Well it’s all about getting people to see you as an expert in your field, once you show them that, they will follow you and want to get more information from you. Sooner or later they will ask you what you are doing that’s working for you. It’s then and only then that you can tell them about your business. If you have done everything else correctly and they see you as a leader they will join you no matter what company you are in. They will see that obviously what you’re doing is working and they will want to be in on that too.

Having good content on the article site means the site will get more visitors more often and people will keep coming back to them for information. Because these sites make a lot of money from advertisements, the more visitors they get, the more money they make. On top of this it will also help them rank higher on Google and other search engines meaning yet more traffic to their site. The bottom line is, if you are doing article marketing the wrong way, you will simply be wasting your time writing any articles at all because you will not get good results this way.
